Lowcountry Cuisine Charleston 2020 Spring

www.LowcountryCuisineMag.com | www.MountPleasantRestaurant.com | www.CharlestonRecipes.com LC 7 W hen guests come to visit my family in Charleston, somehow my husband and I always end up planning their entire agenda around food. There are a few excursions involved — mainly with walking. But it’s primarily a list of: Here’s where we’ll eat breakfast, then lunch, dinner, drinks and dessert. (And if guests are here for a Sunday, don’t forget about brunch!) There never seems to be enough time to explore all the new venues — and without fail we always end up too full from one meal to actually check off the entire list. It’s impossible not to get lost in the cuisine here. What my husband and I struggle with the most is that we’ll find one place we love and keep going back. When you have one chance for a babysitter every few months, do you revisit the mouthwatering favorite you’ve been dreaming about or venture somewhere new that you may or may not like as much? What a problem to have, though… If you’re like us and are overwhelmed with where to dine out at your next chance, this issue is for you. We’re sharing our 2020 Golden Spoon Winners, as well as reviews from readers like you — not professionals — on what they love so much about these restaurants. The list begins on page 16. Whether you’re an adventurous eater and crave learning about the diversity of food inspiration here (page 8) or you’re feeling adventurous in nature and want to hop in the car for an appetizer crawl along the Lowcountry coast (page 30), you’ll undoubtedly be tearing through — and possibly tearing out — the pages of our spring/summer issue. What do you love about Lowcountry food? Do you have a recipe to share? A delicious idea to explore? I welcome your ideas as I step into this honored role as your new Lowcountry Cuisine editor.
