Little Jack’s. Family dinner? Little Jack’s. The impressive wine and cocktail menu are sure to set the tone for any occasion — and I haven’t even gotten to the food yet. From the cocktail menu, Bee’s Knees and Tommy’s Margarita are personal favorites, and, to accompany my drink, I recently tried the starter of crudités & dip. … I wasn’t expecting much for raw vegetables and avocado mousse, but this blew me away. The flavors were great and it wasn’t too filling. I have a feeling you can’t go wrong with anything on this menu, but if you’re looking to keep it classic, I’d recommend the Tavern Burger and french fries; not only is it presented about as cute as a burger can be, but it is guaranteed to top off your appetite just right after your choice of appetizer and drink. Little Jack’s Tavern is located at 710 King St., Charleston. THE PARK CAFE An ideal Sunday: waking up slightly later than usual, taking your dog on a walk to Hampton Park along with your friend and her dog, and stopping into The Park Cafe for brunch on the way back. The dogs collapse on the shaded patio, graciously lapping up the ice-cold water. The humans eye the nearby vintage clothing trucks in the parking lot while sipping bloody marys. OK, maybe this is my ideal Sunday, but I’m sure many a person’s ideal Sunday is a derivation of mine. People like fresh, quality food and a relaxing environment. And this is the appeal of The Park Cafe: Its low-key atmosphere, in addition to its garden-fresh, unique menu — offers diners an experience that keeps them coming back for more. Off the brunch menu, a fan favorite here is the avocado toast, with extra-hungry diners adding an egg atop. Other great options are The Park burger, the seasonal French toast served with mixed berries and ricotta whip, the carbonara, and the list goes on. The Park Cafe is located at 730 Rutledge Ave., Charleston. RUTLEDGE CAB CO. Did someone say Bill Murray? Of course, I’m there. Yes, the food is amazing.
