Guests will easily be able to taste their way around the Lowcountry by visiting restaurants that are positioned in tents based on their Charleston geographic location, from Kiawah Island to Summerville to downtown to Mount Pleasant to Sullivan’s Island, and all the places in between. Over 40 local restaurants and food trucks will tempt guests with a wide variety of food ranging from barbecue to seafood to Lowcountry cuisine, and from fine dining to casual dishes. To wash down the savory bites, there will be wine and beer, including beer from local Charleston breweries. In addition to an elevated cast of Charleston’s best chefs, Taste of Charleston will offer kids ages 12 and under culinary fun and education in the new Kids’ STEAM Kitchen, while visitors of the Charleston Cultural Center will experience a sense of Charleston’s rich history and charm with unique, cultural activities. A Charleston event would not be complete without musical entertainment. The Battery Brass Band will perform their New Orleans-style jazz tunes, while Sandy Nivens and the Bluestone Rambler will be on-site in the VIP Tent. VIP attendees will also be treated to an upgraded VIP section with special cuisine, liquor samples from local distilleries, a private bathroom and chef demos including a special butchering lesson from Stockyard Beef. Tickets are available by pre-order at tasteofcharleston.com or at the gate the day of the event. VIP tickets are expected to sell out. Prices are as follows: • General admission: $20/person, includes $10 admission and $10 pre-loaded points to be redeemed on food and beverages. • VIP: $125/person, includes $25 in pre-loaded points. Part of the Taste of Charleston proceeds will be donated to local charities. Guests who exit the event with remaining money (points) on their wristband can opt to donate the existing money to a Charleston area charity — with several options available for their personal choosing. Some seating will be available at the event. Personal chairs are allowed, but no tents, umbrellas, coolers or pets are allowed. A clear-bag policy will be used for the event.
