Now, after a two-year hiatus, the Taste of Charleston is back in the culinary game. The Oct. 13 food festival has been re-imagined, revamped, and moved to Riverfront Park in North Charleston. “We are so excited to reintroduce the Taste of Charleston in 2019 with new RFID (radio frequency identification) wristband technology, more family-friendly offerings, new culinary talent, cultural experiences, an upgraded VIP area — and all at an affordable price point,” said Jonathan Kish, president of the Charleston Restaurant Foundation and host of Taste of Charleston and a division of the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association. “Locals are not going to want to miss this elevated culinary event featuring some of Charleston’s best restaurants and chefs, alongside premier entertainment and all overlooking beautiful scenery at Riverfront Park,” Kish said. The new and improved event will be 100% cashless and the first event in Charleston to use RFID wristbands, according to Kish. Due to the wristbands, guests are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time and can opt to pre-load their band with points at the time of purchase. The points will be redeemable on-site for food and drinks. Wristbands will be mailed to customers’ homes. If guests want to load extra points once at the Taste of Charleston, they can do so using their smartphones or at top-off stations located throughout the park. Each point is $1, and It’s Back!
