Lowcountry Cuisine Fall/Winter 2019-20

www.LowcountryCuisineMag.com | www.MountPleasantRestaurant.com | www.CharlestonRecipes.com LC 5 W hile the Lowcountry is almost synonymous with warm-weather activities – the beach, boating, light summer bites, late sunsets, etc., it remains a wonderful place even in the cooler months. There’s something to be said about chilly fall and winter evenings here – whether you’re out at an oyster roast in jeans and boots, enjoying a nice cocktail and hearty plate of stick-to-your- bones winter fare at an upscale restaurant, or cozied up on the couch next to a fire with a warm nightcap in hand, the chilly temps and early sunsets create an entirely different ambiance that I appreciate. After all, fall is my favorite season. But it only makes me appreciate the warm and sunny spring days even more. With my excitement over all things “fall,” there are so many stories I’m happy to share with you in this issue, and I can’t pick a favorite! Up high on the list is the Coaches’ Recipes – how cool is it that whether you’re a fan of Clemson, South Carolina, The Citadel or Charleston Southern, you now have the coaches’ favorite recipe that will be the hit of your tailgate? I might get creative and have a rivalry game of foods at our watch-party – Dabo’s crab cakes vs. Muschamp’s New Orleans shrimp. I’m already anticipating it will be a tie! Football aside, there is so much more inside these covers to inspire you: the inside scoop on people in the food and beverage industry who do great things in the community, gift guides featuring local stores and products, and of course our annual Food & Fashion section – because fashionable clothes and great food often go hand-in-hand. So make the most of the cooler weather – while it might be a little chilly, there are a lot of perks to fall and winter in this beautiful place we call home.
