This is my favorite issue of the year because it gives me the excuse to call on so many restaurants and share the good news that they’ve scored high in the hearts of their Lowcountry patrons. This year, we had an interesting assortment of winners, from cafes to hot dog stands to gelato shops. IGT-7 CaRIbbEaN CooL – ThE aMERICaNo as Lowcountry locals, we don’t want to eat at tourist trap restaurants – we appreciate a good cocktail menu paired with innovative cuisine. Luckily, we have The americano on Coleman. IGT-9 ThE soL WILL RIsE aGaIN With the growing population of the Lowcountry, there is a need for more of everything – more houses, more restaurants and especially more soL southwest Kitchen & Tequila bar. Fortunately, soL recently announced plans to open a second restaurant in summerville. IGT-30 ThE WINd bENEaTh YouR WINGs For Mount Pleasant natives bobby Perry and Chip Roberts, what started as an idea to help two friends who didn’t necessarily want to grow up has now turned into a business that won’t stop growing – The Kickin’ Chicken. IGT-10 2017 GoLdEN sPooN aWaRds WINNERs The In Good Taste Magazine staff can’t help but notice how excited readers get about food. That’s why last year we introduced the Golden spoon awards as a way for restaurants throughout the tri-county area to hear good news from the locals.
